Art 1 Final Portfolio

1. This is my favorite and most successful project this semester. I loved how this canvas project turned out because to me it looks so real. For the Grand Canyon, I put lots of value into the top to the bottom because the sunlight would be brightest at the bottom of each section. For the shrubs I made a regular green color and then on the top I had a tinted green color. This project is also my favorite because I love the way that the sky looks so real. The sky has white added to it to make it almost look like it has mixed in clouds with it and I love this. I love the way that the canvas can have texture on it when you use paint. I used bigger blobs of paint for some of the Grand Canyon parts because the Grand Canyon is rocky and rigged. I really Just love how this painting turned out overall and I am glad that this all came together so well.

  2. I believe that I learned a lot from this project because there was so much to go into this. I learned during this project how important details can be to a drawing. I had to figure out what details would look right in a print and which would not. I also learned how to be able to make a drawing look real even if i am not using value. I got to be creative with my print by experimenting with different colors and mix of colors. I also think that I learned how to choose what is best when I am making art. I had to choose which picture I wanted to make my print out of and what part of the picture would look the nicest. I also learned during this project how to be precisewhen I am making something and how it can make a big difference to the whole peice.

3. When I was making my portriat, the main thing I used that I had learned before was value. I had to figure out what value needed to be in different parts of the picture. Another thing I had used before that I had learned before was how to make each of the parts of th face. this includes the eyes, nose, mouth, and even the face itself. I also used an assignment that we had done to tell me where exactally the part of the face should be. In this assignmet I also learned techniques on what size the parts should be and it was very usefull in my portrait. The value in the portrait to me made the biggest difference to me, and what had helped me before was the shape project. This project helped me know where I should make the value darker or ligther to make it more real.

4. I think that the contour Line shoe project was the least important assignment that we did this year. I beleive that this was useless because noone is ever going to draw with contour lines when they draw. I also beleive that there was no point in this project because it turned out terrible and it would have looked better without contour lines anyways. The contour lines made it hard to put detail into the art. It also made the picture/lines look squigally because we could never lift the pen. The shoe did not even have that much texture  on it and so the picture looked really plain. I also have never used anything that I learned from the  contour line project. All that I really learned from this assignment was that I hate contour lines and that no one ever uses contour lines.

5. I think that the assiegnment that most reflects me is the Stencil project. The first reason is because there are a lot of brigth and neon colors that pop out at you. I think that this describes myself because I am very hyper and I like to be crazy. I also have a personal connectuion to this because it was a picture of my best friend. I made mistakes during this project and some parts do not look right. This also describes me because I am not the best artist and I am not a perfectionist. I think that this also reflects me because it was not a standard drawing of something, but it was a cool spray paint activity. Also the expression of my friends face describes our relationship and my and hers personality.
